*Edit: Die Zeit hat gezeigt, dass es mir momentan nicht so recht gelingt, Posts regelmäßig an einem bestimmten Tag zu gestalten, deshalb lege ich den Wochenrückblick erstmal wieder auf Eis. Die Idee gefällt mir aber weiterhin!

{this moment}

Some time back, Soulemama came up with this wonderful tradition:
{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. -
If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

Wednesday Gratitude

For me, Wednesday usally is a very ordinary, rather boring day. I feel like if I just gave it a special meaning in this blog it might become a bit less ordinary. So I decided to take extra care of the things in my day I am very grateful for. Maybe that way I will live my Wednesday more aware of small beautiful moments.

So today I feel gratitude for:

  • a good breakfast with my sister
  • warm, freshly baked rolls plus an extra one to take to work later
  • my boy, being so happy and cheerful
  • having a good chat inbetween doors with peers at work
  • a mouse scampering between the railroads while I waited for my train
  • coffee to go! I used to not like coffee too much but since Aarons birth coffee has become another addiction. Feels like such a treat.
  • finding the energy at the end of the day, to do some sewing, even if just for some keyrings. Most of the fabric I found at Volksfaden, a wonderful online store for great cotton fabrics.

  • a snoring boyfriend on the sofa. How this can be such a comforting sound sometimes...
What are you grateful for today?

Time for baked apples - Bratapfelzeit

While I prepared the first baked apples of the year tonight, I remembered an old rhyme from my childhood (which make me sound very old, but I ment the rhyme to be old!) I don't know if there is any simular poem in English?

Ok, my apple was rather covered in custard but I just loooove it that way! There are uncountable variations of how to make baked apples, my version contains:
sliced almonds
raisins
ginger bread spice
vanila sugar
marzipan and well,
a shot of whiskey

all mixed together and stuffed into the prepared apple, then baked for aprox. 30 min, served with custard and a pinch of brown sugar and cinnamon... enjoy!!!

Hommage to the 70th

In one of my mums old knitting books I found this great playing carpet. (I have asked her for references and will add them asap) Its so my childhood style!
I can't believe though that someone would actually sit down and knit something like this...
Edit: so, the book can be found here.

My love for drift wood

Here in Cologne I am very lucky to live near the big river Rhein. After some rainy days you can find great pieces of drift wood along the shore and I love getting inspired by what the river offers.  Some examples of what I have done last time:

Long time no blog...

Oh my, I guess I was not ready to start regular blogging in June. Maybe now though: maternity leave over since September, back to work, still settling in my new life with a toddler.
And after weeks and weeks of coming home after work, too tired to create anything I now feel my fingers itching for it. May be it has also got to do with christmas... I LOVE this time of the years!!! So I am going to show you everything that gets created over here from now on.

For today, just a lantern for the traditional kindergarten lantern walk. I used a prepared set from the local pharmacy and printed some simple lino-block design on it.

P.S. sorry for any mistakes, spelling or grammar wise. I haven't written any English in a long time
